2026 Q3 Work Update

HELLO! Peeps. It has… the year… what the. So fast.
No need to overcomplicate this, a brief rundown of stuff I’ve been busy with:

What Happened To MOOSEBOX?

So, when I started my Discord server a couple of Moosebox ‘fans?’ joined, and they turned out to be pretty weird so I banned them. But they shared some interested info on what may have happened to Viacom getting hacked and someone releasing the Moosebox shorts online and knowing the person who did it, someone mentioned they had a crush on Catbox when they were young so that’s cool, but yeh – weird peeps who shared weird GIFs. Anyways, either before then or after then I decided to make a video about Moosebox since I still see peeps landing on my site looking at Moosebox stuff. TL;DR, the video is completely ambling and long and ended up turning into a bit of a ‘history of Moosebox’ video, the show is dead and we don’t know why, and it’s probably not ever coming back to life, lucky to have got a chance to do it, the end. It feels like I / we never gave Moosebox a proper burial, so this kind of serves as the final nail in the coffin I suppose for a collective closure of a chapter.

SMOL GAME

I started doing a little Kenney Game Jam and didn’t enter it into the jam, but still learned a little bit of the Corgi Engine asset I bought some time ago which helps one make a 2D platformer game in Unity. I used Kenney’s 1-bit sprites to make a really [really] tiny game, and called it ‘SMOL GAME’ because why? Because it’s smol, ok.

Untitled Rhythm Game

For another game jam I made a little test to see how I could possibly make a bigger rhythm game, with the idea of harnessing the successful recipe of fun animation + music like what I’ve done for Goldfish and The Kiffness in the past, kind of like a ‘Rhythm Heaven’ game. I didn’t enter this into that game jam either, but still pleased to have made something. It’s very basic at the moment: Hit SPACEBAR on the SNARE and see how many PERFECTS! you can get in a row. I think max I managed to get was 27 or something.

Bru & Boegie stuff

Episode 1 – Get da MILK! Game

Thanks to everyone who left a Steam review – it’s now got a ‘Very Positive’ rating on Steam which is fantastic! It continues to sell during times it’s discounted, and yeh, going to be taking part in cool Steam Punk Games Festival later this year which hopefully gives it more exposure.

Episode 2 – Get da SUGAR! Game

After Episode 2 demo’s release, I took a kind of long exhale after that monumental push to get the Episode 2 demo over the line. Touch wood, seems like not a single bug report, other than 2 lines of text which didn’t quite match the vocals (one instance was intentional but I’ll probably change it) so I’m pleased we put it through the ringer in terms of testing before release, and thanks to buds who tested it out and reported bugs. Currently I’m a bit sick of the game after working on it for so long (close to a year), so I thought best to just park it for now until something looks like it makes sense. It’s actually pretty great imo and everyone who worked on it did excellent work, I think time will be kind to it, but perhaps I just need to step away for bit.

It’s quite a bit bigger than Episode 1 in terms of scale, I’m hoping I can hit around 2.5k wishlists after Steam NextFest in October which would probably warrant continued work on it, it currently has about 1.1k wishlists. So, with some trepidation about the big chunk of work that it’d entail to complete the rest of the game 😬 I’m still hoping to finish it off. I maaaybe should have taken a local game dev’s advice and just kept it another pretty small episode game, but I tried to address many comments saying the first game was too short, and it felt like a good idea to aim bigger for this one, so.

Here’s a video of someone playing through the Episode 2 demo, which is freely available to play on Steam and itch.io:

METEORITE

I still gotta launch the 10 min animated Bru & Boegie short that I finished last year, on my YouTube channel. It’s got into even more festivals since making this poster.

Freelance Work

Not under NDA or anything but I guess best practices to just keep things under wraps until it’s done. Got one on the go; some pixel art and animation, and another B&B game-related thing on the horizon for when my current job finishes. Nice to have some freelance work, I think it’s more or less the first I’ve had in about 2.5 years. 😮

Thanks as always for reading ❤️
